Scaling Agile

Scaling Agile

It’s hard enough to begin experimenting with agile…so how do you scale it across your organization. That’s the topic David and Justin discuss in this episode. Here are some notes from the show:

  • Agile isn’t just for startups…organizations small and big are making the transition
  • While an organization’s mindset should be agile, not every team needs to be running agile (R&D gets more value from running agile than accounts payable does)
  • Steps to scale agile:
    • Make decisions closest to customers like a neural network
    • Build a “team of teams” structure
  • Agile is sometimes thought to be less efficient – because it is – but it makes up for it in effectiveness. In a VUCA world, that’s what matters.
  • “There is nothing quite so useless, as doing with great efficiency, something that should not be done at all.” – Peter Drucker
  • This is about resiliency over robustness and effectiveness over efficiency
